Haven't been out to Vegas in almost four years? Staying for a week or 10 days, wheres the place other than Bellagio?
Depends on your criteria. In the past three years I've stayed at every new place on the Strip in addition to staying at the M and Red Rock. I guess you could say I'm a seasoned vet.
If you're looking for upscale, hipster environment we loved both Aria and Cosmo. If you stay at the Cosmo make sure to get one of the rooms with a balcony on it. Very cool. Big rooms too.

It's not THE place like it used to be but I still like Caesars Palace. Everybody should do Caesars at least once and if you're taking the wife she will like the forum shops. And yes, the sports book is very nice.

I stayed at Cosmo last week. The rooms are very cool. They are very spacious too. I will definitely be staying there again. Caesar's can be hit or miss, depending on the room they give you. The Agustus tower rooms are nice, but the old rooms are terrible in my opinion. They are very small compared to what you can get at the newer casinos. Aria rooms are also nice. I'll be staying there next month.

Ya my wife loves July in Vegas. We have family that live in town so she's gone quite a bit while I have the freedom to stay inside the air conditioning and camp out wherever I need to.
Fair warning though to OP: don't play slots at Caesar's. You won't win.
