So, WHY DO YOU GAMBLE ON SPORTS?
Good question.
I'm part time football season only and don't really bet enough to warrant a lifestyle. Guess it's just a passage and something I have done for 20+ years. My enthusiasm has waned over the years, and don't watch most games; mostly college football is the only sport that I look forward to watching. Seemed like years ago when I was in my 20's, and early teens, I had the thrill of winning and the challenge of beating the book had an allure.
However, now that I have gotten older, my priorities have changed. Aging parents, responsibilities, other interests, and getting older myself realizing how precious little time we have with every swing of the pendulum; have had an effect and give me doubts about contuation. Unlike many here, I have no desire to be a tout; that has never been a goal of mine.
But as I talk this out, will give you my best answer that probably has a short expiration date. I feel like I gamble today, at this point in my life, to: (1) add distraction, (2) indulge in something that is not finite. Let me explore these two in brief:
I see and deal with people who have endured many hardships, and a great deal of my life has been dedicated to helping others. While I now sit in a more mundane role in finance and admin; it can be rather a bore. So in examination, there is some merit to my gambling tendancies to escape boredom and draw focus on something outside of my environment.
As the generation before me is passing before my eyes, and the business world calls for new leaders; I have stepped up to that challenge, which requires a great deal of detail that does not allow for mistakes. My controlling perfectionism and lead by example attitude becomes laughable by my former self; but internally I still desire to do something haphazardly that requires risk and uncertaintity (i.e. sports betting).
