I've watched every game this team has played. Except for the game v. West Virginia in Morgantown, they just won't die. Frank Mason won't let them. A friend of mine said it best of last night, "They were just playing with their food." Sure enough, with 10 minutes to go they said to hell with it and curb stomped the Sooners. Didn't do anything for folks laying 14.5, but it got the job done, which is what this team has done all year. They've been a wonderful fade when better against them, but a nightmare for teams trying to win the conference.
The problem KU has this year is they can't go all out like they did for the last 10 minutes of that game, or the last 5 minutes v. WV, or the 2nd half v. Kentucky, because they don't have the depth. The guys lay back and just kind of hang around. When it's time to roll in the 2nd half, they find a way to get it done.
The frustrating thing for Kansas fans is you know this team can blow people out, but they don't because they cruise for 25 minutes every game. Makes you wonder if they're saving some gas for March.
I was like Insider the Curl last night watching their abortion of a an effort for 30 minutes. It was crazy, but I reminded myself that they weren't gonna let Mason/Lucas lose on Senior Night. They didn't.
I wouldn't write them off so easily, just yet. They'll be a monster of an out. And it's not like there's a clear cut favorite this year.
