Analysis: I don't agree with the market, which initially was all over Princeton, then not. Could well be a +1/+1.5 setup on both sides as they managed to do with Boise State last night - too soon to tell and I don't care. If we'd have had Boise, LMU might have made the last shot. Anyhow, the situation here is all about the Tigers. They've played BYU and VCU on the road, and were able to score 70 against VCU. Cal has this game and plays Seton Hall tomorrow, where as P-Town plays Hawaii, so they should be the more focused team, and as you'd think, they're never OUT of focus. The matchup favors Princeton IMO. Cal is not the running/scoring machine they were under Montgomery for a number of years. Martins' UT teams were always very good defensively, and that's been the focus here, and the offense appears to have suffered as a result. The teams that have given Cal trouble the last couple of years ARE the slow teams, this year SDSU, LAST year SDSU, UVA, Oregon State, etc. Cal has NOT blown anyone away and hasn't left the State of California til now, whereas Princeton has been to BYU and VCU as mentioned earlier. And playing those two teams, and only four games to date, has their defensive stats a bit skewed IMO. Princeton is one of the most experienced teams in the nation, and their bench is a bit deeper. Being a neutral court game, Princeton has a better ability to keep this game lower scoring (I do like the under here). Grad transfer Mullins, from Columbia, was just doing the bereavement thing (I believe in Canada), so perhaps less focus and certainly more travel, assuming he's in. Bird is doubtful again and he was their best deep threat last season. Cal is NOT as good as last season with Mathews transferring to Gonzaga and Wallace running the show (PG, SR, graduated). Princeton is a better team than last season (IMNSHO). So, with that in mind I am seriously considering the under as well. Even without looking I can tell you that in a game people can watch on TV many will be on Cal and over, they both won't likely cash.
