Last night the Blue Devils on their 5 National Title under Coach K and Scott, Andy & Steve will recap the game.
Duke won the game 68-63 and in big part because of Tyus Jones and Grayson Allen who both had big games. Jones won most outstanding player of the game, while Allen came off the bench to score 16 points. He came in to spell some players hat were in foul trouble and really helped spark the team when they were down 9 in the 2nd half. His presence really allowed Jones to do his thing.
Andy states that it's hard to talk about the game without talking about the officiating. at one point in the 2nd half we say Coach K berating the officials and it seemed that Duke got the calls down the stretch. Wisconsin was getting called for fouls that they hadn't been during the regular season. This is one of the least foul-prone team in the nation. Still andy doesn't feel that there is an excuse for the Badgers to not protect a 9 point lead, especially in a low scoring game. He also felt they didn't take advantage enough when Winslow and Okafor were out of the game.
Scott agrees with the strange officiating, but also feels that Bo Ryan blew it some in this game. There was a 7 minute stretch when the Badgers just didn't run their offense that got them there late in the game. Dekker had a bad game and if he had an average game then Wisconsin wins it. He also feels that Ryan blew it late in the game when it started to slip away from his team and he wasn't using his timeouts. You have to read the tea leaves and konw when you need to call a timeout. Still Scott doesn't want to take anything away from what Duke did.
Andy also states that maybe the Badgers were a bit too unselfish in the game, which could have cost them as well, plus they really went into a prevent offense late in the game, which really hurt their flow.
Steve feels that yes the refs seemed bias towards Duke, but that may have cancelled out some with the fact that Wisconsin had the more biased crowd.
Scott feels that the Badgers are the third best team in CBB, with Kentucky number 1 and Duke number 2.
Steve wonders where everyone was when the Money was coming in on Gonzaga vs Duke. The Blue Devils were an elite team and he felt he should have been on Duke in that game.
Andy also bought into the Zags, but it really shows that the Zags just don't get the players needed to be a Final 4 team.
On the officiating. How in the hell did the officials watch instant replay and still gave the ball to Duke, when the rest of the nation clearly saw it go off Winslow's fingers? The Badgers may not have won the game because of that call but they would have had a better shot to. After that call Duke goes down and hits a 3 pointer and goes up 8. Bam, pretty much game over at that points.
