This year's Kentucky team is very good, but where do they rank All-Time?
Dave Malinsky has some strong feelings that Kentucky is not even in the ballpark as far as some of the All-Time great teams. Dave states that this Kentucky team is made up of Freshmen and Sophomores and if you put them up against some of the great teams that had juniors and seniors, then maybe they would sneak in at number 24.
Dave did a top 10 list and feels that the number 10 team on that list would still be a 5 point favorite over this year's Kentucky team.
Dave also wonders that if Kentucky was not undefeated would we even be having this discussion? If on shot falls from Texas A&M, LSU and Notre Dame then we are not even having this discussion.
RJ states that that is true, but still not many of Dave's top 10 teams would have been undefeated as well. You don't need to be undefeated just to be considered one of the best. Bottom line is that this is a good young team, put put out their vs the great teams that had older players and Kentucky would not stack up vs them.
RJ states that this year's Kentucky team is at a disadvantage because they have not had a couple of years to gel. Michigan's Fab 5 was a great team and probably better than this years Kentucky team, but still it was the next year that Michigan was a great team, because they had some time to gel.
The '91 UNLV team is RJ's favorite team of all-time and Bob Scucci put out that that team would be favored by 6 over this year's Kentucky team. Dave agrees and in the top 10 that he did he has UNLV as the number 9 team.
This year's Kentucky team did have an advantage of playing in the SEC, which was weak this year. If Duke played in that league they probably would have been undefeated as well.
Teddy states that this year's Kentucky team's biggest downfall is their youth. If they were around for 2, 3 and 4 years then they could been one of the greatest of all-time.
