Yesterday's Play
After a week where my plays have seemed to fold at halftime, Purdue came through with a huge second half. This team played with a chip on their shoulder, as I expected them to. A very nice 2* winner to get things back on track. I have another 2* play on Saturday, as I believe this play really has a lot of value.
Today's Play
2* Play on Kansas State(-4.5)
The Wildcats will make their way to the Sweet 16 with a convincing win here today over BYU. BYU escaped the first round with a double overtime win against a team most feel didn't even deserve a bid into the field. I feel like BYU breathed a sign of relief with finally winning a first round game, something that they have not been able to do in recent history. The Cougars have not seen a team like Kansas State all season long. Their non conference schedule was mediocare at best. BYU is not use to being an underdog, and frankly, they should be a larger underdog here today. BYU is only 1-3 ATS as the listed dog this season, so not only are they not use to this role, they struggle in it.
Kansas State is 27-7, with 3 of those losses to the #1 team in the country (Kansas). They played a rigorous schedule and are ready to make a deep run in this tournament. They have athletes to the level that BYU has not seen all season. I expect the Wildcats to dominate the boards in this game. The Wildcats have a pair of guards that can take over a game, in Clemente and Pullen. Jimmer Fredette might very well get his today, but the Wildcats will be able to score at will. And I don't think BYU can keep up with Kansas State for 40 minutes. I'm taking Kansas State to win this one by 8-10 points.
