Duke -24 over Arkansas Pine-Bluff
Normally I wouldn't even think of laying these points with anyone. But the more I looked at this the more I saw that it screamed rout. We can be fairly certain Duke wins this game----but by how many.
APB did indeed play the fourth most difficult non-conference schedule, and all eleven non conference games were on the road. However, they lost all but one by double digits, with the only close one being to Akron, who is certainly not a real contender, for lack of a better word. One could argue that they "only" lost most of those games by 15-20, but how many of THOSE games did the winning team "let up". Probably a lot.
After starting 0-11 APB won 18 of the next 22 games. All righty then. But BY FAR their best opponent was Winthrop the other night.
IMO this is as close to the best NCAA team versus the worst. I am sorry---but APB's offensive efficiency is 296th out of 347 teams. Their effective FG% is worse, and there were only 18 teams with a worse turnover %. Seriously, they will struggle to score 40 points against Duke.
I know some will make the arguement that Duke has not had deep runs the last two years. IMO this is a very different Blue Devils team. This year they have far more depth, which of course is going to help when Scheyer and company rest. Duke has a four-player low-post rotation, something they have not had recently.
What really sealed the deal for me is listenting to Junior Guard Nolan Smith. Quote..." this years' tounament is all about defense and rebounding"...unquote.
Arkansas Pine-Bluff only has TWO people that average in double-digits scoring. Terrance Calvin (10.3PPG) and Savalance Townsend (no relation to Pete) (10.0PPG). So, in my humble opinion they APB folks may wish they stayed at the beach in Jacksonville rather than taste the humiliation Duke is going to lay on them.

Well, Stew, glad you took the time to be "worried"----LOL. It was a small play, mainly because the line has been rising too fast for my liking and I just don't think this game plays out the way many people think it will. I am not so sure Cornell is just going to drain three's like people think, or at least I HOPE not!!!! I just think the Owls "D" really is that good. We'll know fairly soon, and if I'm on the wrong side, well, glad to see YOU on the right side, my friend.....
