Thursday CBB Play

Texas -5.5 versus Wake Forest

I don't have tons of time to write this up---but I'll do what I can quickly. Without belaboring Texas's "issues", why should this game or this Tournament be the game or time that the Longhorns play to thier potential? You can't "turn it on" anytime you want, and if they COULD have they WOULD have a month ago.

Wake played the 10th most difficult schedule in the country. (Texas played the 30th). Wake played the 3rd most difficult defensive SOS in the country and still ranked 94th in total offensive efficiency.

Wake is huge. They're the second biggest team in the country. If this is all about matchups, I still think Wake has some significant advantages. To me, this game is Damion James against the Demon Deacons. He's going to be able to shoot over most of the Wake perimeter defenders-----but inside I don't think many people outside of NC know how good Aminu is, on both ends of the floor. And if this time of year is all about guard play and defense, Ish Smith is not only one of the better floor general, but can shoot, penetrate, and he's a SENIOR.

If experience matters (it usually does), but Brown and Hamilton (Texas) are FRESHMAN.

Wake, after Smith and Aminu, have McFarland (7'0"), Tony Woods (6'11") and David Weaver (6'11") to take up a lot of space and a lot of fouls----------oh, and yes, let's put the Longhorns on the line all night long---------

Wake doesn't want to end their season with the pitiful effort they put forth against Miami.

Aside from the two games against Oklahoma State, the only team Texas hasbeaten in two months ranked higher than Wake was A&M, which was in Austin, in overtime, and only by three points.

I may be in the minority and regret it, but I'll take Wake Forest +5.5

Yes, KG, they seem to be. I had BYU but also Vandy, so 1-1 on the day. Got K-State and Richmond. We'll see. I don't post everything I play personally unless it's early enough or I haven't read a bunch of other posts-----I also took the OVER 129 Butler but since JRO posted it I chose not to. Had I taken under I would have. Good luck the rest of the afternoon/evening, Goats!

2-1 with my Bears not covering, won by 9, I had them by 11, if only they Sam Houston would've fouled Tweety, that would've been two baskets to push, but so far so good other than that, my two wins are outright dog winners!!!

Let's cash this Wake play buddy!!  BOL.

I was going to take San Diego State all day. Very popular forum pick. Then I started thinking. If this game were played a few weeks ago in Knoxville the Vols would be a prohibitive favorite. If this game were played a few weeks ago in San Diego it might have been at worst a pick, at worst, IMO. So, we have a very good defense against a team that doesn't see too many, playing a team that's 3000 miles from home. The the late money comes in on Tennessee, so, I am taking Tennessee -3.
