No plays to recap yesterday. It was nice to have the time to get ready for all the TOURNAMENT games coming up. That starts today. NEVER forget the following statement: VALUE is VALU regardless of what tournament it is. I just said this on the TiSB podcast, and i'll say it again. There is MORE value in the "other" tournaments than there is in the NCAA Tournament. I feel strongly about that, and i will bet accordingly. There are alot of people around the net that are selling tournament plays that simply shouldn't be. They are doing that because they are attempting to take advantage of people that are simply excited for this time of the year. Be careful with that!

Hook, I posted a version of this in Dan's blog last night but it might be more appropriate here considering it is CBB talk (although I now see you have a lean towards Miss State):
guys ---- take a hard look at fading my mississippi state bulldogs tonight in the NIT. they're playing Jackson State (my hometown, baby) and are laying 22.5 (21.5 now). On a regular night MSU should dominate JSU and win by 30+. however, our guys are disappointed as shit after losing how they did to KY and then getting the snub from the NCAA. they are still comnplaining about crucial missed calls in the KY game. on top of that, we had top 10-15 talent this year then didn't even make the tourney. our guys simply do not want to be in the NIT at all. huge huge let down spot. on top of that, they will be on their fourth game in 5 days, whereas JSU hasn't played in 6 days after getting bounced in their tourney. they were otherwise the No. 1 seed in their conference, albeit a weak conference.
moreover, the bigger state schools rarely play the historically black colleges in Mississippi such as JSU, so JSU will be feeling like they have something to prove here, especially with a lot of their players not getting recruited by the bigger schools. Mississippi State has nothing to gain here by winnind (other than advancing in the NIT, but JSU has everything to gain by playing the Bulldogs tough).
again, no doubt MSU has superior talent (i can only assume - never actually seen JSU play), but I have to think that situationally this is just a beautiful spot for JSU.
finally, don't put a ton of stock in the home team factor here. our fans aren't happy and will not pack the coliseum this evening. in fact, i could see plenty of JSU folks making this 2 hr trip to go see their team play in a post-season tournament against the in-state rivals. in short, there will be no loud, roudy MSU crowd there. I'll be looking hard at playing JSU.
