Experience or a true basketball coach isn't Kansas' problem right now. In fact, between Mason III, Graham and Lucas, you've got some of the most steady and tested leadership in the country. Bill Self and his excellence and gamesmanship speak for itself. Just look at how he took Calipari to school during their game v. UK a few weeks ago. It was laughable seeing the in game skill set between those two.
Kansas has a depth problem and I believe it's what has kept them from blowing teams out this year. That and the Big 12 is damn tough this year. They squeaked by on Saturday versus Tech team because Mason was sick, didn't play as much as normal (I think 21 minutes) and eventually fouled out. They hung on though and showed some toughness. Jackson was a monster.
Can they turn it around in two days and get things fired up for a huge Monday night match up? I think so. Kansas is in a revenge spot and I think these boys were embarrassed about what happened in Morgantown a few weeks ago. They took it out on Kentucky and I think they've had this game circled more than any other for the remainder of the season. Kansas hasn't brought 40 minutes of effort very often this season because they couldn't. When Bragg was suspended they were playing 6. Even with him back, their rotation is 7. Versus Texas Tech, it was essentially 6.5 with Mason not being 100%. I see Jackson continuing his dominance and Mason getting back to his old self. Allen Fieldhouse is going to try and break the indoor stadium sound record tonight, so the place will be amped.
The line has dropped to 4.5, which means there is a bit of $$$ coming in on the dog. Rock Chalk.
