Hey Dub:
There is no reason to ever take any particular game result too hard. How much would you have bet on Michigan State at +4.5 today? How about Notre Dame +29.5? I was right with you on the Mountaineers, to the point at which I did not even take a peanut of the +6 that was available at tipoff for insurance. The key is to study the result, find what is useful, and file it away.
Sometimes the most extreme of scoreboards can come down to a single element, and that is a big part of what happened in Morgantown. The key to the handicap on my end was WVU pressing some shorter guards, but from 19:49 to 10:56 of the first half, they did not get to set up the press a single time off of a made shot. They could not score because Drew put together a terrific zone defense concept, and the Mountaineers were befuddled by it, allowing a 21-1 run. For the game, Baylor did turn the ball over on 25.1 percent of the offensive possessions, which is a number you, myself and Bob Huggins would certainly have lived with. But the inability of the WVU offense to figure out those zones in the early stages gave far too much away to overcome with any other aspect of play. So you file the game in your mind, adjust your figures, and move on to the next opportunity.
