Let's have a good day today guys. Any thoughts on VR today on the show??

  •  I'm so glad you guys brought up this Oregon game.. it's definitely something worth addressing.. and I'll piggy-back off what both VR and Mike said.. couldn't agree with what those guys said more, but to elaborate...

VR mentioned how important it is to see exactly what the circumstances were during the regular season anytime a team won both matchups and comes out as a dog..

The first game these teams played was one of the craziest games I've ever seen in my life, no joke.  In regulation, WSU was ahead by two points with 0.7 seconds left and Oregon was inbounding 90 feet away from the basket.  They throw a full-court ally-oop that gets put in by Garrett Sim to take the game to Overtime.  Needless to say it was highway robbery... but it doesn't end there.. in the first OT.. WSU scores with 1 second left to go ahead by two points, and the bench goes nuts.. so nuts that the refs call a technical on WSU's bench, Oregon makes two freethrows with no time left and BOOM double OT on the way.  Obviously Oregon pulled out a close one in double OT.. but this game was seriously robbed from WSU.  To say Oregon won this game, is to vastly understate the actual circumstances.  WSU literally won that game twice, and lost on the third try (which happened to be the final one).  Those that didn't personally watch the game probably had no idea of the actual events that took place.. it was seriously BANANAS

The second game... VR mentioned about looking into whether a team had extra motivation and what not... Well, Mac Court on the Oregon campus is one of the oldest arena's in sports, not just college basketball.  It truly is legendary.  That game was the last Pac-10 game to ever be played in that arena.  It was one of the few games that Oregon sold out this season, and absolutely huge to the boosters and fans.  The kids from Oregon played that game with the amount of urgency that you'd expect to see from one of the most historical games in the programs history.

Not only did WSU shoot poorly in both matchups, but they were struck by lightning twice in the first matchup, and were caught in the biggest game of Oregon's season in the second matchup.

Not only am i all about the situation where you get a squad on double revenge as a small favorite in the conference, but this circumstance is extra special just because of how bamboozled WSU was in both these matchups.  WSU is favored for a reason.. this is a sharp line from Vegas, and it'll take a sharp player to see the value in WSU.

Now, that being said, if you cruise over to SteveBeav's thread.. I 100% agree with nearly everything he said about this matchup, and his reasoning for taking Oregon.  The inexperienced backcourt of the Cougars has really struggled in this matchup, and it's because teams like Cal and Oregon with experienced/disciplined guards really hamper their Freshman/Sophomore led backcourt.  I'm also not sold on WSU's first year head coach being able to lead his team to ANY victory.  The sooner he is out in Pullman, the better, for that program.  ALSO, keep in mind that Coach Kent at Oregon was fired on February 22nd.. he's still coaching the team, but his next loss will be his last... So the motivation for his players could either be at an all time high, or it could be a huge distraction from the media.  How you perceive that situation is a matter of personal opinion, and it's part of the reason this game is so tough.

  • ok guys, this is also a bit of an impromtu live chat for the evening games.

Stew and company did a great job with the early stuff, so let's finish strong.

I'll be in and out for the next hour or so, and then it's gametime.

    Let's all cash these winners!

  • I love how BigWest TV is no longer free.. Bastards. Just trying to milk out all they can get for tournament time.. Whoever is the financial advisor for that conference is a moron.  They are charging 20 bucks a ticket in Anaheim... they can barely get 2 thousand people in the gym usually, and now they decide to double ticket prices and charge for streaming video that has always been free... Way to get LESS people to follow the conference, assholes.

  • Whats going on up in this biatch fellas?? How is everyone doing?

  •  Since it's been two months since i said this on the TISB podcast.. I'd like to remind people what my two NCAA tournament sleepers are... HOUSTON and NEVADA.. Both teams pretty much need to win their conference tournaments to get in at all at this point.. Disappointing seasons for both squads... but I'll be damned if there isn't tons of value on both of these squads in the conference tournaments.  Both teams play 3 of the best guards in the nation, and that kinda thing can really push you through March with some success.
