  • MUST get in tonight w/this one,
Probably have little time before Steam re-corrects number

    Virginia Commonwealth at George Mason

Gotta hand it to G Mason to this point
This team has made it to 10-3 in Conf
    Often starting FOUR Underclassmen
       3 Soph
       1 Frosh
Along w/CAA #4 scorer, Cam Long (Jr)

G Mas rec largely fueled by 7-Gm Win Streak
Fact is, Patriots streak also filled w/Lower 1/3 D-1 RPI Tms
    G Mas has dropped 2x S-U
And hasn't covered a Gm in last FOUR

    G Mas Underrated PG, WHACK
    (not making that up)
Lock-Down Point is still limited w/Injury

Honestly believe G Mason is OVER-VALUED here

    VCU: #25 O-PPP / #87 D-PPP
    G Mas: #157 O-PPP / #161 D-PPP

VCU is better in nearly every OFF & DEF Category
VCU has at least FOUR Key Indiv. Match-up advantages
VCU usually STARTS 4 EXP Jr & 1 Soph

VCU's KEY Advantage is Down Low:
    VCU L Sanders vs G Mason's Morrison

G Mason Poor 3-pt shooting HAS
    Coincided w/their last 4 Gms, & 0-3-1 ATS Rec
      23.0%
      29.4%
      23.0%
      29.4%
      23.5% (1-pt cover)

VCU is weak shooting from Deep, esp lately
6 of Rams last 8 shot 33.7 or lower 3-pt%
Yet it hasn't appeared to matter
Since VCU is choking teams defensively
Including VCU ONLY Conf Loss vs NE

    VCU Pt's alwd:
      58
      60
      62
      53
      74
    (L, 1st Place Northeastern)
      59
      69
      68
      64

Considering Rams are TOP TEMPO TM in CAA
63 PPG Allowed is very solid

ALL VCU L's but ONE are in Conf
(OOC 1-pt L to Rhode Island)
VCU started 1-3 Conf, BEEN on 8-1 TEAR Since, as proj on 1/6
(ONLY LOSS to Sizzling 1st PLACE NE)

VCU's MARGIN last 4 Conf Gms:

    +12
      +13
      +16
      +49

G Mason tempo in lowest qrtr of CAA
While VCU is of course the QUICKEST Tm in Conf
Rams have MORE success v LOW PACE Tms
Whilst G Mason appears to have issues w/HIGH paced Tms

    FINALLY,
    CAA STANDINGS:
    VCU 9-4, inexplicably behind
    G Mason 10-3 (& ODU, NE at 11-2)
    YET,
    VCU'S CONF GM MARGIN:  +10.8
    GEORGE MASON MARGIN:  +0.8

    VCU Power Rated #43 / G Mason #157
VCU JUST -2 at G Mason?

VCU Rams at just -2 is SUPER VALUE

    2 UNITS
VIRGINIA COMMONWEALTH -2 at GEORGE MASON

Should have play w/Indiana State at Creighton
if & when line makes 1 last small twist.
    For what it's worth

  •  I didn't have this on my map as well, because I can't call what George Mason team is going to show up. I did see at SB that the line is 3.5 already so good early work, Steve.

  • Good luck on the play tonight buddy. I was looking at this game but couldn't finalize a play, but you just did for me!!!! Great info as always

  • I like ONE POSSESSION a lot; I'd personally buy a hook down to -3, but still go Rams either way.  Just so much better at nearly every area, and as indicated, G Mason hitting the MEATY portion of their schedule, and having shooting issues and not covering or winning, for that matter...

Thanks a million guys, Denver$, Dan, everyone...  like this one a lot.

  • Looks like the best we're gonna get here is -3.5, IF it gets back there.

    For the RECORD

    1.75 UNIT*

    VCU -3 (BH, sportsbook.com -120 *, bought hook, w/>VIG)

On Road, buying HOOK back to one possession, Rams remain solid play, in my humble opinion.  Line quote (still lloking for it thru 'History' listings) off 'Early line' feed NEVER reached the number quoted here....just to clarify.

A little VCU-News (expected) from Richmond Times-Dispatch hit the wire today...even if expected, distractions are always something to cap against / thought this MAY send line back a bit...hasn't YET:

    Gavin leaves Rams

Sophomore guard Jay Gavin has left Virginia Commonwealth's basketball team for what the school said was personal reasons.

"Jay has made the decision that it is in his best interest to leave our team," VCU coach Shaka Smart said in a release last night. "As a coaching staff, we appreciate Jay's efforts and contributions during his time as a Ram. We wish him nothing but the best for his future."

In a phone conversation, Gavin did not want to comment on his situation or his future but said he wanted "to wish my teammates and VCU the best."

A transfer from Marist, Gavin started VCU's first seven games. He had 20 points in a victory over then-No. 17 Oklahoma.

But his playing time has decreased as the season has progressed, and he has not been on the floor in four of the past six games. In the two games Gavin did play, he had 14 points in 10 minutes in a blowout win over Towson, then got in for the final minute of Wednesday's 73-60 victory over UNC Wilmington.

Gavin sat out last year after transferring. He averaged 12.3 points as a freshman at Marist and was the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference's co-rookie of the year.
