  • Yesterday's Play
Villanova came out and simply outplayed West Virginia in every facet of the game. Kudos to the Wildcats as they moved the ball well and got major production from complimentary players.

    Today's Play
    It's a two unit Tuesday.

    2** Play on Wake Forest(-6.5)

Boston College heads to Lawrence Joel Coliseum with a record of 12-11, 3-6 in the ACC, and without their leading scorer Joe Trapani. Trapani reportedly did not make the trip due to illness. Wake Forest enters this game with a record of 16-5, 6-3 in the ACC.

Trapani is the Eagles power forward, but he is their best 3-point shooter. The Eagles already struggle to shoot from the perimeter and without their leading 3-point shooter, it becomes even worse for the Eagles. The Eagles have only averaged 63 points per game in ACC play, and without their leading scorer, things don't look to get better against Wake. Wake has only given up an average of 55 points over their last 2 ACC homes games. Bottom line is that this is a poor offense going against a solid defense. I lean towards the defense every time.

Wake Forest has owned the Eagles over the last 2 season, beating them soundly in each matchup. The reasons for this is the before mentioned defense of Wake, and also because they like to score the ball at the rim, which is the weakness of the Eagles. I expect Wake to control the boards in this game, especially the offensive glass, where they will get easy buckets. BC will have to earn every point, and Wake will get some easy ones due to their size and athleticism.

Get this line before it moves up as I expect it to. If you're expecting a repeat of the Duke performance from the Eagles, you will surely be mistaken. Wake gets in done, 72-58.

Good luck with all your picks.

    Your boy,

    The Brick

  • I was looking at this one.  The ACC scares the heck out of me as you never know who will show up.  I hope the demon deacons come through for you.  The only ACC game I will be playing goes Wednesday and I dont care if Duke is laying 20, I will take it as NC is BAD!!!  GOOD LUCK

The ACC doesn't scare me at all. This is my home conference, I know these teams inside and out. BC doesn't have the worst league record, but they have the least amount of talent in the league. That talent is even thinner without their leading scorer. Wake has been known to underachieve in recent history, but this Wake team has much more chemistry.

And here is my warning, the Duke line versus Carolina will look enticing, but DO NOT bite. Duke has struggled on the road, and Carolina can score. I would not be surprised if Carolina won this game straight up. I know it is cliche, but you really have to throw the records out of the window when these two get together.

I usually stick to sides and not totals, but if I had to pick, I would lean under. BC plays at a rather slow pace, and Wake usually plays to the pace of their opponent.

I'm very skeptical about this line move on the side. Line has moved down, though action is on Wake. Hope this doesn't mean my play of the day is actually a trap.

  • Totally agree with the play Brick...I think BC hanging in there with Duke give us some better value on Wake at home. With Trapani out, I don't see BC being able to stay in this one against a fundamentally sound Wake team. Keep up the good work I enjoy reading your posts. GL to the both of us!

Dont know what Wake Forest team you've been watching, but defense is not strong point for them.....They get up and down and try to outscore you....
  • Although numbers do support their defensive effort at home....Wake is a team with a ton of talent. theyve had talent the last 5 years, but have done nothing with it. this is a team that is notorious for laying down on the defensive side of the basketball....they are a lazy team and i believe that they are not coached very well. But if Wake gets rebounds and can get out and go, they are one of the toughest teams in the country to defend. Ishmael Smith at pg is so quick with the ball, he really cannot be guarded. The key is Aminu, if he wants to play, he can put up 20 pts and 10 rebs a night. Wake looked decent at Virginia on Saturday, but Boston College is much more precise in offensive sets and scrappier on defense than UVA....never the less, line movement is not supporting a Wake play, but I like Wake....
