another nice WINNER earlier today, lucky but who cares:)
our 2nd game for today goes at 7:30 PM EST where Furman host UC Davis
Furman had a terrible season opening against Charleston with almost no showing on offense only 40 points in a 35 ponint loss showed that Furman will have problems this season against team with a strong defense
UC Davis showed efficient shooting in their game against Eastern Illinois and a rock solid defensive effort
These teams met for the first time last December, with Furman pulling out a 75-65 triumph in Davis.
Corey Hawkins had another big game against Eastern Illinois, pouring in 28 points on 9-of-16 shooting, including a 5-of-7 performance from beyond the arc. Hawkins has compiled an even 40 points combined in the first two games, while also managing 13 rebounds, seven assists and six steals compared to one turnover. Josh Ritchart (13.5 ppg) is the only other Aggie to have scored in double figures in each of the first two games. He had 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting against Eastern Illinois. Scoring options have been limited from there, with J.T. Adenrele the next-best scorer in the first two games, although he has only 15 total points to show for it.
Furman recovered from a terrible offensive showing against Charleston in its win over Appalachian State. The Paladins sank 54.7 percent of their shots from the field, although they did go just 7-of-21 from 3-point range. They also had 10 more rebounds than the Mountaineers (39-29), while owning a 42-34 scoring edge in the paint. Kris Acox led five players in double figures with 14 points as well as 10 rebounds.
The first two games have been filled with terrible lows and exceptional highs for the Paladins, who are currently sitting with an average of 62 points per game. Stephen Croone scored 12 points against Appalachian State after sitting out against Charleston. Acox scored six points against the Cougars before earning a double-double last time out. He has at least been consistent on the boards, with 18 combined in the first two games. Kendrec Ferrara netted 12 points against Appalachian State, as did Larry Wideman. William Gates rounded out the group of scorers in the contest, finishing with 10 points.
It is tough to tell which Furman team is the real one. Is it the stagnant squad that faced Charleston, or the balanced one that routed Appalachian State. The Paladins will probably fall in the middle for this one, which could be dangerous against a team with such a scorer as Hawkins.
so our selection
