IMO, this site has become more of a "Picks" site than a "Selection" site lately. "Pick" to me implies luck......pick a card.....any card. I am also guilty of it occasionally, as I don't often write-up football and I certainly wouldn't attempt an NBA summary....LOL
There are a lot of these posts recently that convolute the actual content of Pregame. There are many posters "picking" and not showing any type of record at all. It is not a "picking" contest, folks! This is detrimental in my humble opinion. It takes a minute a day to keep a record and can obviously be very beneficial, especially to new members. There are also crazy amounts being "bet" which undermines credibility. I may be wrong, but I had ONE 7 unit play this season. Are others that much better than me? Do they have that much more money than me? Is it just extremely poor Bankroll Management on their part or are these "wagers" indeed real?
As far as Forum Ettiquette, new members should sit back, relax and offer up their opinions. You will be noticed quickly with insightful and informative postings. Do not slam others plays, but offer up sound disagreement.....this is very beneficial and, speaking for myself, always welcome. We are not playing against one another and this seems to have been forgotten at times. We are all in a partnership to beat "The Man". Get 'em, Pregamers!
I know what you mean, I see alot of 20 unit plays and see alot of so called risk 1,000 to win $300 plays and stuff like that. Another thing that is outrages is when someone puts 10 card selections all on one post with star rated games, some have 3* other put 7*, shouldnt all your plays be rated high if you are selecting that team?
I tend to only post One strong play and one write one analysis. I dont claim to put 20* units etc. One play and writeup on weekends a day.
I do not post but read this site religiously. I agree with your take on this plus it seems to me that some posters seem to be wanting to tear down rather than build up. The comments to the Boys pick this past weeked being a good examply. Totally uncalled for. Dub
I agree, gents. This is not directed at anyone in particular and certainly not at "new" posters in general. It is sort of a hunt and peck process here for new members as they try to make their way. Being loud and boisterous to call attention to oneself certainly doesn't work with me. A few tips cannot hurt, IMO.
Let's all just try to be professional whether we are, aspire to be or could care less. I am not saying that all professionals conduct is acceptable. Look at Phil Helmuth.......LMAO
To be sure, trying to tear down one's reputation to enhance your own will not work here.....
Personally, the value of laying -800 on ANY team is about as useful as a dartboard. If we are foolish enough to risk an entire weekend on one game.........
There are serious gamblers here and, to a varying degree, serious touts. Then there are also legitimate handicappers here. Personally I find this site most helpful when there is information and/or angles posted as opposed to just "picks" posted. There are exceptions of course (no names) where a pick will post and you'd be stupid not to pay attention to it (write up or not) -- but to stop myself from my own rant -- I agree and it's worth a good rant, Bruno. Thanks.
I flat bet 3% of my bankroll. If I think a bet is worth betting, then it carries the same weight. I conducted a small study of some of the pro cappers at pregame that showed a lot of their top unit plays didn't fare as well as their lesser unit bets. Just another strategy, but not saying it's the best or better than anyone else's.
It is true, rgr. I think the problem often lies with over-thinking a "high-valued" play.....
I agree Bruno. Didn't pregame put in a system of entering your picks? Doesn't that show records? Instead of clogging up the forum with plays it should be used for serious gambling discussion, articles and blogs. This is exactly why I no longer try to write a blog discussing handicapping because in less than an hour it's off the front page and never seen from again.

Money management, line shopping and reading the betting markets are just as important as picking the right side.
It is true, although it is somewhat difficult for us to stay true to it. Time constraints, memory-loss, etc.....LOL
Amen! BEAT THE MAN! Lord knows he has taken his fair share. Thanks again Bruno for your time and effort posting in this forum. You have helped me turn it around.
