Yesterday: Topic of the Day: Is global climate change man-made?I think the government should have ZERO decision on this. Each state should allow people to vote on it. It is our tax dollars (since the government technically does not have a job producing income and paying taxes) that goes toward assistance. If a job/company can drug test, not sure why someone getting aid should not get tested. I also think anyone taking aid should have a list of local/state tasks that need to be completed. Whether it is cutting grass, picking up trash on the road or cleaning windows at city buildings.

doesn't seem like the best idea, you are 100% sure to see an increase in personal crime as the addict will not only need to find money for their drugs but also won't be able to eat so will have to steal for that too

Conor, I don't know how it works in Ireland but here we have charitable organizations and churches who take care of people in situations like you mentioned. Why does government have to be the answer to everything?

Yes we have charitable organistations aswell that help in these cases but they don't catch everybody, and that is off topic - why should he be cut off from basic welfare because he tests positive for drugs? When i say basic i mean a roof over his head & food for his family
