I cannot recall the last time a monday night football game brought less talk at the table the following morning for our group. Did you watch? Yeah. And who cares. I know the schedule makers thought they were lining up an interesting match up when they put the schedule together back when but this one was a lemon. Next week we have Houston at Denver, better but not must see TV.
Some of us were feeling the sting of the Dennis Byrd death this past weekend. What I mean is this. We remember when Byrd had his neck broken in the game against the Chiefs. What was weird for me was the remembering that I was at the sports book in the Mirage that day when it happened. As it turns out I was also in the book at the Mirage the game when Mike Utley of the Lions suffered the same fate. Just too weird. And so cruel and sad for a guy to endure what he did and fight his way back to walking. And then to perish in a damn car accident. Sometimes life is cruel.
Being a Packers guy surrounded by Chiefs fans it was not a pleasant exchange. I see the Packers are on the brink of trading with the Chiefs and acquiring Knile Davis. I am glad to hear it. The Packers depth at running back is low. Nobody can keep healthy. I like Davis and think he will help. Hope the deal comes through. My buddies all knew I had a huge release last week on the Cowboys against my Packers. I told them friday at breakfast. But I didn't expect an ass kicking like that. They were full of questions and I was not full of answers. Everybody and their crazy uncle has their opinions and I have mine. I did have to laugh at someone in the forum exclaiming that Aaron Rodgers has ALWAYS been overrated. All I could really take from that was, whatever he is smoking I would be willing to try as long as the car keys are safely hid away.
Weird for us in mid missouri watching the playoffs with no Cardinals appearance. That is just a rare thing in these parts. We have one buddy, Rob, who is a die hard Cubs fan and he is just waiting for the worst to happen. Zero confidence, just paranoia., It is kind of funny to observe.
Man I cannot recall the last time Mizzou athletics were at this low point. There is no excitement about the homecoming game this saturday with Middle Tennessee State. None. Other than the team, friends and relatives, etc I don't know many folks too jacked up over this thing. This team just got dominated the last two games and it was a humbling thing to watch. As for the Tiger basketball program. Oh geez.
Much of the rest of the conversation revolved around something I said I would not get into with these threads and you all know what that is. The one thing we all agreed on 100% was that there would be relief when it was finally over.
Crazy busy time and back at my desk capping football. But, it is a labor of love. I am researching football. I could be out digging ditches, or moving furniture. All a matter of perspective. This is not hard work.
Thanks and best of luck with your action as always guys.
