The natives are restless. Lot's bitching and complaining in general this morning. The Tigers laid an egg at home on homecoming saturday night. I had a play on the Gators but I am not a told you so type guy so I clammed up and let them vent. Sports in such a what have you done for me lately deal guys. The Tigers won the SEC east two years running and it is clear it will not happen this year, oh cry me a river. Mizzou will not win the damn thing every year. We did not know Mauk would melt down. We did not know Hansbrough would be battling a bad wheel the early going. Drew Lock, a true freshman under center, simply cannot reasonably be expected to carry a team on his shoulders. He will develop into a helluva QB, believe me. But he needs snaps. Anyway, I expected the Gators to win and they did. Going back to last year I have been on point with 7 of the last 8 Tigers games I've bet. I feel like I have a good handle on this team. They are what they are and locals need to live with it.
The Royals fans are tightening up and they face elimination today in Houston. The hitting is in a bit of a funk and Hosmer seems to be the fall guy at the moment. If Ventura is on today they can definitely square this thing up. He should be fresh and ready having only thrown 40 pitches in the opener as they did not put him back in after the rain.
Cardinals fans, and here is where I am a fan, are concerned but not in panic mode. What is most bothersome is the way they dropped that second game. That second frame was not Cardinals baseball. Not even remotely. Now they face Arietta and we all know what a beast he is. The odds makers are giving the Cards little chance and who can blame them. Wacha is an ultra competitive dude and has to be licking his chops for his shot today at such long odds. This should be interesting.
Oh then there are the Chiefs! Good lord Agnes! Being a Packers guy I just let them vent, and vent, and vent some more. And now they lose Charles again, that is just salt in the wound. The fans are pissed. As I sit here typing this I am listening to Kansas City sports talk radio and the local fan base is melting down. Frankly I feel the Chiefs fans always get a little too worked up too soon. This organization has not won a playoff game since the 1993 season in Houston. That is 22 damn years ago guys. They have lost the last seven playoff games they have been in. They are my second favorite team and I hope they turn it around. But I feel bad for friends who I see get worked up and let down so many times. Chiefs fans are great, and Arrowhead is a fantastic venue. I just take a real wait and see approach to the Chiefs.
That was pretty much it for today. Sports has it's peaks and valleys, what can you say. I try to remind guys that at least the Royals are playing an important playoff game today. They would have traded their left nut just to be in this spot a few short years back.
That is it from Columbia Missouri today guys.
