Free winner yesterday with Baylor. Will post another in a moment. Today in 1974 big George Foreman knocked out Ken Norton. This bears no real significance in the big picture. It simply draws the memory back to a time when the heavyweight crown was the most prestigious title held in all of sports. The heavyweight champion was THE man. Period, case closed. There was a time when the heavyweight title bouts were epic events, not just sporting events. It is my opinion there will never, ever be another fight generate the electricity of the first Ali and Frazier fight in march of 1971. It polarized an entire nation. The likes of which has not been seen since. Their were political ramifications tied in as well. If you were leaning toward the view Vietnam was wrong on all counts you stood with Ali, the more conservative people tended to side with Joe Frazier. I recall the times well. I listened to my father and his poker buddies argue over it. In my school there was a clear line, you were either an Ali guy or Frazier. It was also my introduction to booking bets, Albeit a small scale the seed was firmly planted. I took action in the school cafeteria on the fight. I felt Frazier would win that fight and indeed he did. I also believe had he been allowed to finish in Manila he would have captured 2 of the three bouts. But that will always be a debate with no resolution. Anyway with Floyd and Manny finally getting ready to rumble there is no question that fight will eclipse all monetary records. But no, it will not top the national fervor generated by that first epic battle between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier. In todays dollars I shudder to think what that would have generated.
Okay, a free winner. Tonight I am suggesting a small wager on Quin Snyder's Utah Jazz. They are getting 8.5 points in Memphis against the Grizzlies. Snyder has his young club playing well right now and they have shown they can go toe to toe with the Grizzlies on their home court already this year. And that was when they were still learning one another. The Jazz are playing all around better ball now on both sides of the floor. I expect them to cover the generous number tonight.
On the business side we cashed again last night with our featured release. It was an epic comeback in Ames Iowa as the Cyclones took the early blows and got up off the deck from being down 20 points to come back and not only win the thing but cover our number. A lot of teams would have tanked. Props to Iowa State for playing the full 40 minutes. And thanks! Have now cashed on 19 of the last 24 college releases. Tonight I do have a Triple Star college release in play. We have now cashed on five straight Triples. And the long term record speaks for itself. Going into tonight we have cashed 118 more Triples than not. NO,NO, NO. it is not a lock..The game could lose. It is sports gambling. So don't invest in the game if you cannot accept risk. Some seem to have issues with that sort of thing, lol. The early bird march madness discounted packages are also now up and available. The price on these will never be this low again. I honestly have no clue how long they will be up. That is the home offices call, not ours.
That is it for now. Thanks for stopping by and best of luck tonight with your action guys.
