The Paterno statue taken down? In this Country? That's hilarious.
Follow this closely, I'm going to take some leaps to keep this from being 10 pages.
If I lived long enough, one of the things I would like to see is the day when we no longer have any building, school, statue, etc....dedicated to Thomas Jefferson....the most famous slave owner in history.
They took down the statue of a guy that had someone working for him that abused kids?? And they prop up another guy as one of the greatest Americans of all time that owned 100's and 100's of slaves??
Joe Paterno reported Sandusky to his bosses immediately. Sure, the situation was a mess, but Paterno did what he thought was right at the time.
Thomas Jefferson owned 100's and 100's of other people(!) and this Country named 1000's of schools after him, and put his face on our money.
To this day, it amazes me that young black people go to Jefferson Elementary and then go to Washington High School. Yes, our first President, also on our cash, has an entire city dedicated to him and under his watch slavery was rampant and acceptable.
I'm not sure I could do it. I'm not black, so I can't speak eloquently as a black person, but to walk around with pictures of slave owners on my money would seem unbelievable to me. To honor Thomas Jefferson with basically another city (Philadelphia) is completely crazy in my humble opinion.
Take down the Paterno statue because one of his employees abused children......in a Country where slave owners have cities and thousands of schools dedicated to them???? It's just ridiculous.
Joe Paterno was a great coach, a great mentor, and lived a life that many men would be proud of. A freakin' psychopath weaved his way onto his coaching staff and abused a lot of kids along the way. That's a tragedy and Paterno will forever be linked to that serial child abuser. It's an awful situation.
But to take down his statue in the same State that they hold in the highest regard the most decorated slave owner in American history is the ultimate hypocrisy and this poster can't stand by and let that go without notice.
Carpe Diem -
