Someone had to post this...
Due out in theaters next summer but thought it was cool enough to post here.
Mad Max was last seen in "Beyond Thunderdome" back in 1985. This is a supposed "sequel" to that, not a reboot. This is what I love about the Mad Max franchise: It reinvents itself after every movie. There's no need to reboot it because you can always keep coming up with crazy stories.
Writer/Director/Creator George Miller almost got this made in 2003 shooting in Syria until we invaded Iraq (major setback). Then wanted to go back to Broken Hill, AUS where he filmed Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior until monsoon rains turned the desert into flowers. I think they settled on South Africa somewhere.
But I'd like to draw attention to the "V-8 Interceptor" throughout the franchise. In the first movie, after his wife and child are killed by bikers he takes this souped up vehicle to strike revenge. In the second movie, it's pretty much destroyed. In the third movie, it's being auctioned off and Max is the only one who knows how to turn off the explosive booby-trap.
NOW, in this, the FOURTH movie, it appears he's driving it again in the beginning, at least. The vehicle is near-mythic, like Max himself. It will always somehow rise through the ashes.
Enjoy!
