Question to the Pregame Cappers....

  • With all this talk about 'more is better' what do YOU guys feel about this? On one hand you're adding possibly additional insight to the forum, however, this can affect sales for you. Does your competitive edge come out when under this pressure or are you a cool Joe? It seems to add a bit more fuel to the fire that you really need to shine to sell picks. Unfortunately, not many of the cappers are on daily, but would love to hear the thoughts of those who are on and post regularly.

If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles Unless a man undertakes more than he possibly can do, he will never do all that he can
  •  I have zero problem with it. Competition should only serve to make you better. Seems like from a consumers point of view the more options available the better.

If you are confident in your ability then the rest will take care of itself. I have learned through the years it does not pay to sweat things you cannot control. Whatever R.J decides is fine by me, it's his site.

I think he should be commended for trying to get the pulse of the forum on the subject.

Theres my two cents sawastea, have a great holiday brother!Yes

  • What it is going to do is make Pregame Pros more touty since the more touty you are, the more you get promoted, and the more competition there is, the more that has to be done. It will not affect me though because I have myself to live with and I am not going to change anything that I do. We used to have about 5 to 6 of us. Now I can't even count how many we have on my fingers and toes. And that of course means at least 17. I do love this place and if adding more guys is going to make it better, than I am all for it. I personally might have to bow out of selling picks but I will continue to hang out for sure.

  • Brings me to my follow-up question: If there are more people here, ultimately it takes away from future/potential sales. With that being said, the time it takes to cap/analyze a game is not worth it. If you're used to making $100 extra per day, what incentive do you have to continue the SAME work (hrs in most cases), for most likely less sales?

    Not much.

  •  Good and valid point. Speaking for myself I never really look at the handicapping from a work point of view. If you have a true passion for and enjoy what you do then you never have to work a day in your life from that point on.

I can honestly say it's in my blood and I just plain enjoy all of it, of course except the dry runs which can really put your world upside down.

I have a contract with pregame and I always honor my agreements, if after the life of the contract expires and I feel another avenue might be better for me then I can explore other options, however I don't suspect that will be the case.

Spart, I hope you hang around for a very long time. You are truly a real guy and a great addition to the pregame family. I don't have a contract as mine was never returned to me so I am a Free Agent. As far as Saw's second question, the money earned here is just not that important to me. If it were, I would have been gone a long time ago.

  • It is what it is...the traffic at pregame is much, much higher than almost any other sports handicapping site on the internet, so I don't think adding one more capper really matters in the big scheme of things, good or bad.  Plus I think I'm a better capper than "Bookie Bill", so I don't give a damn what plays of his are posted.

Saw I can't speak for all the cappers but I can speak for myself my work doesn't change one bit whether I have 1 sale or 100 because when I handicap I am handicapping for me first. Every Game I release I have personally bet. The money I wager is my priority selling the picks is secondary and it's been that way for 30 years.

    DAILY REMINDERS

#1: Please use proper money management.  Whether you flat bet my plays or play them according to the Unit ratings, PLEASE bet within your means.

#2: Unless otherwise stated, my daily card is FINAL at 6 p.m. Eastern Monday through Friday and Noon Eastern on Saturdays and Sundays.

#3: PLEASE take a moment to tell your loved ones that you love them.  Take a moment to kiss your spouse/significant other, hug your children, call your parents, etc.  Those things are so much more important than betting on any sporting event, and you never know when it will be the last time you see them.

  • Well I'm saving up to buy a REALLY BIG gold chain and rock the clubs with the bling.  So...I need everyone to buy my plays, so I can roll out on 22's and hit the clubs in style.  I think the gold chain will put me over the top.
