no problem rg, i know alot of people have high emotions regarding this presidency and grave concerns about the future of this country; which is understandable. thank you for your energetic involvement.
rgrikki92 razorback fan rg - the only president I ever voted for was Bill in '92. every other time I have voted against. i wouldn't vote for either one of these bozo's given the opportunity. i worked on the Winthrop P. Rockefeller campaign, this was his presidency - but he died of bone cancer. I will agree w/ my lack of understanding about economics; but getting tough to keep up w/ inflation at the grocery store and the dollar is the weakest I've ever seen. The cost of getting by for those that work for a living (me) is getting too high. I do not agree w/ handouts for nothing, I think everyone can contribute something. Too many people sucking uncle sugar's d*ck these days and getting funds EFT. If our government could afford such luxury, it would be fine, but the writing is on the wall. I personally do not think there is a way out of our situation, and merely paying the interest note is becoming a heavy burden. I don't vote party lines, general elitist - hardly. If I'm an elitist, this country is in deep doo-doo. Which it is, so you may have something there............ I know the economy is hard on people so I do empathize. As to the 2 candidates I agree with you, but I do have a PhD in economics and my reason for voting the lesser of two evils is that the GOP wants austerity which I and many other economist, some of them Nobel Prize winning economist, think could cause a depression. I don't believe in hand outs either, but I do believe in a helping hand. Thank you for your thoughts and I apologize for the harshness of my tone earlier.

ToofdocI do agree with austerity but you make it sound like a bad word. Contrary to popular belief, there are different degrees of austerity and we can either face the issue of deficit spending now with a little austerity or wait until the interest payment is insurmountable and the austerity is much more severe. Anyone with any common sense and especially someone with a doctorate in economics must realize that you can't keep borrowing 40 cents of every dollar you spend and survive.
when an economy is recovering you do not commit to austerity. Interest rates are incredibly low so this is exactly the right time to borrow in order to stimulate the economy. After the economy is in full recovery then you commit to austerity. Please don't ever use the term "common sense" when discussing something as complex as macro economics. Perhaps, common sense is utilized in the art of tooth pulling, but not in the dismal science.
You say it is "complex" yet you simplify it by saying "interest rates are cheap so borrow"? We are borrowing more than we could ever possibly pay back and more and more people are getting on the government tit. I worked on teeth all day and then came home and worked on a house I'm renovating. I am painting and cleaning up because these sorry mofo's will not show up to work! I don't feel sorry for any able bodied person in this country until I start seeing a few more people willing to break a sweat to provide for their family. 80% of them are on drugs and the other 10% are just to damn fat and lazy. 10% actually come to do a good job. Just make it tougher to be on government assistance than it is to crawl out of bed is all I'm asking. This would help the economy tremendously.
Come spend a week with me and you will change your views
for all those that want higher taxes and bigger govt........what should we all be paying in taxes so the segment of society that wants to live on the public tit can continue to do so....seriously , what should a family that makes say 50 k pay,,,100k 1 mill etc.....i'd like to hear.

Way to avoid his point.

Us geniuses are able to simplify for the masses, but a lot of complicated formulas are involved. I suggest you, move out of Alabama, take a class or 8 about macro economics and specifically Keynesian, move to a place where the people aren't druggies, fat and lazy. Where do you find such people? Are they just walking around on the streets? Or do you make an effort to find these types. Doesn't speak well for Alabama if her citizens are of such bad character.
