I apologize that I find a hole in my heart when it comes to these movies... But nobody made Tony Scott movies like Tony Scott did.
Every one of his movies was distinct with character but familiar with style. He was the ultimate auteur filmmaker for the past 20 years. He's at that common imaginary dinner table with Jesus and Einstein for me. OR BETTER: That imaginary dinner with Da Vinci and Michaelangelo...and Tony Scott.
(I'm pissed he's dead, pissed he committed suicide, pissed he leaped off the highest bridge in LA, pissed I'll only see imitations of him for the next 20 years, pissed that Tony Scott's story has turned into a Kurt Cobain-like tragedy...Hero of filmmaking)
Maybe this isn't the best forum for such a salute or farewell but I don't care.
Tony Scott made movies for everyone. He was a global filmmaker, with an eye and ear for fantasy/reality.
If there were 2 movies playing and 1 was a Woody Allen movie and the other was a Tony Scott movie? I'm going Last Boy Scout over Annie Hall.
