7 straight "19" in roulette Monday night at Rio in Vegas.

True odds: 114,415,582,591 to 1 (yep, Billion with a B)

Pic tweated by Poker Pro Jeff Romano, and reported by Las Vegas Sun.

Winning the Powerball Lottery is 586 times MORE likely than a roulette number hitting seven straight times.

If you played roulette every day, 24 hours a day, your favorite number would hit seven straight times once every 217,000 years!

Do you think this is random, or a crooked wheel?

Crooked wheel doesn't guarantee that many 19s in a row though, even if it was tilted to the No. 19. Too many things still come into play.

RJ, I got on this two days ago.  As you see no one is at the table.  I do not think this happened.  I have seen this many times when they shut down the game and restart it.  Has the Rio confirmed this?

Interesting about the picture . . .

of the 16 numbers listed, 12 of them are the same two numbers.

Does this seem more likely or less likely to you than 7 straight.

For the answer, I asked Ed Meyer, a Physics PHD/handicapper/friend of Pregame.com - with student Joe Luchsinger they determined the following . . .

The probability of any two PARTICULAR numbers (e.g., 1 and 2) occurring in exactly 12-of-16 spins is (1/19)^12 * (18/19)^4 * 16!/(12!4!).

To get the probability of ANY two numbers, we have to multiply this by the number of ways two numbers can be chosen from 38.

This is: 38*37/2

So, I get 1 of of 2,147,538,121 or about one out of two billion that the next 16 spins of a roulette wheel will land on any 2 of the 38 numbers in 12 of the 16 spins.

So,

on June 18, hours away from the 19th day this month, the 19 occurs seven consecutive times ?

I think there's going to be a lot of superstitious people playing the next calendar day's date.

If they don't win, will they RUE LETTING themselves be so 'spun' by the idea ?

File it under "stories too good to be true"..."There was no one playing at that table," Rio Las Vegas Hotel & Casino spokesman Gary Thompson told The Detroit News on Wednesday. "It was just a diagnostic test being done."

Earlier, I had sent Tweet to Jeff Romano for more detail and he replied "there were a couple people at the table going crazy, but I was just passing by"...so, now have to wonder what he saw, or maybe he's just trying to keep story going since he seems so pleased his pic went viral LOL

I see this all the time at vacant wheels.  You can see no one is at the table.
