overall a -4.25 day...thanks to Danks being Sandy Koufax out of nowhere tonight...
This is an example of getting too excited over a SP match-up. There is a reason that the O's have a losing record on the road and the Sox having a winning record at home. Moreover, the O's, both a good home team and good hitting home team, had just come off losing 3 of 4 at home, topped off by being shut-out. Whereas the Sox, a poor road team and poor hitting road team, had just come off taking 2 in a row against the best home team in baseball - the Cards, topped off by scoring 7 runs. Also, Danks actually had pretty good success against O's in past, where the Sox had a better batting average against Jimenez than the O's against Danks.
These are the reasons this game did not make my card. If I am going to lay that kind of juice, I want more of these factors in my favor. For lesser juice, I picked the Braves, a team putting together some good wins, at home with their Ace (having an off year but still good at home) against the worst team in baseball who had just dropped 4 in a row at home against the lowly Brewers.
But anyway ... I figured the Pregame handicappers owed me after I backed Sleepy's GOY -(another game laying significant juice on the road), and so I played the Os. Boy that was painful to watch.
Moral of the story for me ... when am I going to learn to stick with my own handicapping?
GL going forward - I probably jinxed your pick by playing it.
