Some of you know me (through my posts) but most of you don't know me at all.  I'm embarrassed to say my last five or six selections have bricked.  I'm not a member of PreGame to gain customers but I try my best to help those with less experience than I have to gain an edge vs the books.

I'm not going to bore you with my story but suffice it to say I've been placing wagers on sporting events for almost 50 years.  For those of you that take the time to handicap the games I understand the work involved.  For those that are interested in the concept of "free money" by following the current "hot capper" read no further

The fact is "Wive's Tales" are based on truth.  Some more so than others but the fact is that if you are relying on other peoples opinions (purchased or not) you are destined to go broke.  Sooner or later the well will run dry.  With the plethora of information available today online the edge is solidly in the "house's" favor.  Why?  BECAUSE the house can afford to hire the BEST talent available in the world to set lines and adjust to the ebb and flow of nuances on individual games.  We have all found a spot where an injury or a suspension has provided a momentary edge but the fact is the books have that info too and then some.

The key to success (and longevity) in the sports wagering world is picking your spots and betting AGRESSIVELY when you have an edge.  I play poker online every day and the same principal applies.  I don't win every hand and I certainly don't win every bet I make on various sports.  I understand from experience that losing is a part of winning.  That's why I hate to read "bad beat" stories on poker or last second free throws that cost you the game on NBA or NCAA games.

Anybody that thinks sports wagering is an easy way to make a living is SADLY mistaken.  I'm 64 y/o and I bet between $500-$1000 dollars a day on games and poker.  That may sound like a lot of $$$ to most but trust me it isn't.  I win some and lose most and if I'm lucky enough to make 10% on my gross wagers I'm happy.

What makes me sad is posting wagers on Pregame that lose.  I know superstition is something that is created between one's two ears.  I'd be lying if I said I stepped on a crack in the sidewalk just because.  I have this strange feeling that my posted plays are losing.  For that reason I won't be posting any plays until the NBA playoffs.  In the meantime...

Did I win this bet because I didn't post?  NO!  But I still won't be posting any bets until the NBA playoffs.  Don't hold me to it if I can't control myself come final four!
