I think this topic does come up often, but I feel that it is a fair question to ask by a newbie.
I have never heard any NFL guys (2) MLB guys, and 1 NBA player around me admit to taking money during their times pf play, but why would they? Not until their deathbed would they admit it or they just take it to the grave with them.
Definitely possible for a college athlete who has a child, and only getting athletic gear, scholarship, and stipend to eat on....nothing to help child or family would create a cause for throwing a game. As for Pro athletes, (too much money at stake). However, there could be a random email of public embarrassment (i.e. photos), or threats made to family members, etc etc. that could persuade a player, coach, official to do something out of the ordinary that turns a game and causes SPARTAN, and no one else (ha) to lose by the hook.
