First thing on the table this morning was the monday night football game. Frankly not the kind of thing I wanted to discuss first thing in the morning over my eggs and sausage. But, it isn't all about me. Crazy ass ending and that place seems to spawn those kind of weird endings. Thing is it never works in my favor. I will never forget the scab officials in the Packers Monday night game a few years back. That was brutal. Then of course last year in the playoffs, once again my Packers who had control of the game and appeared headed to the super bowl. Even after a comeback by Seattle all the Packers had to do was gather in an onside kick and shut the thing down. But NO, we all saw what happened. And then last night. Oh well, I am not going to let this wreck my mind all day. Anyway, for guys who were just watching the game unfold like normal human beings do it was a fun ending. Grrrrr!
It was announced yesterday that Mizzou QB (Ex) Maty Mauk's suspension will be carried over another week meaning once again true freshman Drew Lock will be under center this saturday night against Florida. I have no doubt he will develop into an NFL QB. But for the here and now I hope the expectations are not out of whack for the kid. He is getting thrown into a tough spot this week. As for Mauk, I cannot say on an open forum why but I will be surprised if he plays another snap for Mizzou. I wish him well. We all have made mistakes and too often forget the ages of these young men. Not many guys I know would want all their dumb ass decisions at that age publicly revealed. I know I wouldn't.
Some tension mounting for the baseball playoffs with the Cards and Royals both in the show. An all Missouri world series would be fun again for around here but like I said to my friends. The networks would have a damn cow, they want the Yankees and Dodgers so bad they can taste it.
Finally, I applaud CC for doing what he did. It must have been at a tilting point for the guy to come forward with the timing being what it is. It takes courage to admit you have a problem and be willing to confront it. I wish him all the best. Not everyone can lick those personal demons. Just look back at Steve Howe if you need a refresher course.
That was pretty much it for this morning guys. As always if anyone has a thought or view to share it is a big table and you are welcome to pull up a seat and voice your opinion. Just guys talking sports.
