With the news yesterday of Frank Gifford, i was thinking last night about my favorite of all time.
I have to admit Vin Scully has grown on me, but i always liked watching a game when Dick Vitale got the call.

NBA- Chick Hearn
Boxing- Cosell
I am biased growing up in LA but no one could paint a picture of a baseball game like Vin Scully. To have Chick Hearn calling the Laker games. I was truly blessed. Both men have earned their respective spots in the HOF. I remember taking my transistor radio to the games when I was there IN PERSON. That says it all!
BTW... maybe I'm showing my age but there was no better boxing announcer than Don Dumphey in the "Golden Years" of boxing. The man called the action by himself with no "color men". I remember sitting on my grandfather's lap watching the "Friday Night Fight's". Dick Tiger vs Emile Griffith stand out in my mind as one of the greatest boxing matches of all time and Dumphey's call was nothing short of classic!
'Final thought... no one has mentioned the late great Curt Gowdy. Not only was Curt the long time voice of the Red Sox. He was the voice of the AFL in the mid to late 60's. IMO he and Chris Schenkel optimized sport's broadcasting at the highest level. These men set the stage for what was to come. 'Gone but not forgotten!

jesse the body was funny if ya want to count that crowd of characters lol
MLB only one choice Scully by a mile
NBA Marv Albert
NFL play by play Al Michaels
NFL analyst Al DeRogatis (only people in their 60s will know that name but he was by far the best - would call the play before it was run based on formation)
Vitale or Raf for hoops obviously... but also bill walton. like if you can appreciate the absurdity of his comments and how much he clearly grinds on Dave Pashc who has to work with him, it is fricking hilarious. Dave trying to keep bill on topic and Walton is busy talking about grateful dead concerts, candy factories in the middle east, and how he sleeps in tee-pees. absolutely great.
