If you guys have read my posts over the past few weeks, you've probably noticed I am no sports betting expert. I may have a good grasp of poker vernacular and strategy, which is something I developed over seven years in that industry. But when I first started in poker, I had no idea what a "cold four-bet" was and I had no idea there was even a game called Badugi. With a little studying though, I managed to brush up my poker acumen enough where I was comfortable covering any poker player in any tournament in the world.
I am confident I can do the same thing when it comes to sports betting, and if I can do it any of you certainly can too. But, you can't learn without asking questions. At least two dozen times, I've asked RJ, David Malinsky, or one of the Pregame.com pros a question prefaced with, "I know this sounds dumb, but...," and they've kindly obliged me. Just the other day, I had to ask about the different kinds of baseball bets because there were so many new terms I wasn't familiar with. The overwhelming amount of abbreviations in baseball stats proved daunting too, but thankfully Malinsky's Point Blank Baseball Preview came with a handy glossary.
Here's the thing--there is nothing wrong with asking questions and learning, so we are starting this thread where you can ask any question about sports betting terminology or basics. I know I'll be in here a lot with questions that crop up, so none of you should be shy about jumping in with questions of your own, then I'll make sure one of our Pregame.com Pros can hop in here and help you out.
