Yes, Oldhead. That is definitely a challenge. Well, I am going to try a few different things. One is free weekly contests. The second is an animated, short video I am getting made to help the awareness and educate people on the kind of tool we can build and nurture for ourselves.
I already have, a well know, Las Vegas based pro sports bettor that wants to be the face of the site and the movement. He hosts two radio shows about gambling and sports betting. One on Sirius and one right from the LVH during football and basketball season.
He is going to lend me those platforms to reach people as well as endorse the site and what I am trying to do. It's going to be a steep climb and slow at first, but I'm hoping once people see the value in it, they will not think twice to stop by, take a minute, and enter their opinion into the consensus.
Not to mention all users will have their very own sports betting journals. These journals will log all your picks and sort them by sport and then also sort them by 12 different game situations that you could possibly select a team in. Filters like: NFL - HOME FAVE - 0 - 2.5 POINTS. Everytime you take a team in this situation the journal logs it for you and keeps this situations own winning percentage for you.
So, out of the 12 different situations in each sport, you will see in what situations you are strong and which ones are weak. We also work that information into the consensus. Users will be able to look at game data based on bettors that share the same strengths and weaknesses.
Meaning, take this game tonight for example. LAC -3.5 GS. This game involves two different game situations: NBA - HOME FAVE - 3 to 6.5 points and NBA - ROAD DOG - 3 to 6.5 points.
Inevitably, bettors will share strengths and weaknesses. So let's say 19 bettors who all have a weakness (defined as a win % of 44% or less in this category) of NBA - HOME FAVE - 3 to 6.5 points all chose the Clippers tonight. You will see this kind of info on every game.
This consensus will show you the basic splits, but then have three more detailed charts to show the users where they can get much more detail about the consensus and the ability of the bettors who lent their opinion to the game.
Talked to developers today and it sounds like we should be ready by June 1st.
