I have never had much interest in pure games of chance. I like the intellectual challenge, and I like to take advantage of my having played all three major sports. I enjoyed figuring the game out when I played them and still do from the betting standpoint.
As Damon said in Rounders -- it's a skill game - it's not gambling.
Having said that ... I am not immune from enjoying the action and playing games just because they are on TV and I can watch them. (Sometimes I rationalize that as learning from those games for future investment - that is the scouting aspect).
I like many games of skill - chess, poker.
If only I had the time to do this full time and watch film the way a pro does. Oh well. (No substitute for film - stats are nice to know how teams perform historically in certain spots, but .... film is the best).
