Yes Simmons comments were 100% spot on. He took the handoff from Rachel Nichols' excellent line of questioning at Goodell's fluff conference and took the ball right into the end zone. TOUCHDOWN.
I listened to the podcast Monday night and didn't think Simmons' comments were much different from anything he said on previous podcasts. Simmons has been criticizing Goodell for a long time - and for good reason.
Roger Goodell should step down (he is in denial) and ESPN should really get a clue. Simmons isn't great on live TV, but he is wildly popular and THE KING of sports, sports betting and pop culture podcasts. Banning your most compelling personality for 3 weeks in the middle of the NFL season is not smart business.
Plus, Simmons is by far the most popular ESPN voice on sports betting. Glad to see David Purdum is now writing for ESPN (and Dave Tuley has been for a while), but Simmons' weekly NFL Guess the Lines podcast with the Cousin is a great listen.
If the suspension of Simmons puts more pressure on Goodell to step down then so be it. But the timing of this is awful if you are an NBA fan, as Simmons was getting ready to do his NBA previews with Jalen Rose, which are very entertaining, if not informative.
