In Betting Buzz, Ken and RJ discuss the big bet that was won by Rory McIlroy's dad over the weekend.
Back in 2004 (Rory Was 15 at the time), Rory's dad and 3 friends made a bet that Rory would win the British open before he turned 26. The bet was for 400 pounds, which is roughly $683.00 in U.S. money. The were given at 500/1.
Rory did win the British open on the last day he could have won it to make the bet valid. The bet was cashed for 342,000 American dollars.
Now What can Vegas do better? The Online books do do well. The Online books open the number earlier and have some some props.
Vegas does do something right, like it will not let some bets that might be subjective, but RJ feels there is no downside to Vegas letting bets happen like the one that Rory's dad made. The European books do this and they understand that allowing these bets will create publicity, which is never bad. They understand marketing and customer friendly approach, while some in Vegas seems to think of sports betting as more of a nuisance than rather trying to pleas the customer.
