This week the tour will go to Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, NC for the Wyndham Championship. This will be the last event before the playoffs get underway next week at The Barclays event. The top 125 players in the Fed Ex Cup points will advance to that tournament so those on the bubble will have extra incentive to win this week. This course is a 7117 yd par 70 that has a reputation as one of the easiest on tour. However this will be the first that bermuda greens will be in play as they were overhauled this summer. Good putting of course will be a key thing to look at this week along with scoring avg, total driving, GIR, & (the aformentioned) Fed Ex Cup point standings. Webb Simpson is the defending champ winning here last year(-18) by a 3 stroke margin over G. McNeill. He'll be on the card this week as I feel he hasen't done a whole lot since winning the US Open!
Few "big names" will be on hand as many of the top pros will be resting up for the playoffs. Duffy will be on hand as well as I mentioned W. Simpson, D. Toms, S. Garcia, C. Pettersson among others will be contending this week. I look for the low scoring to continue here as it has in the past however with the newly added bermuda greens as well as some unperfect weather conditions I think a winning score could be around -16/17.
Coming off a rather disappointing PGA Championship tourney where we lost on our outright picks with J. Rose as our top pony finishing in a T-3rd. This week is very juicy because it's the last tourney before the playoffs and the pressure will be on a few players if they want to keep playing. These type of events have been profitable for me this season maybe even more so than the majors.
