This week we'll head across the pond to Royal Lytham & St. Annes Golf Club in Lancashire, England for the 141st Open Championship. This is the third and most prestigious major of the year. This course hosted the '01(D. Duval won by 3 strokes..) & '96 Open when Tom Lehman defeated Ernie Els and Mark McCumber by two strokes to finish at -13(this will be the 11th time total). 20 year old Tiger Woods was the only amateur to make the cut that year and finished T-22nd. The course is a 7118 yd par 70 links course that will be more challenging than normal given that rain and wind are expected to have an impact this week.
Of course all of golfs elite both PGA and Euro will be on hand to challenge for the title. Darren Clarke is the defending champ, winning last year at Royal St. Georges finishing at -5 to win by three strokes over Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson. Tiger is the favorite this week as usual currently at 8/9-1. I believe with with the weather issues the european players will have more of an edge, I think the wind will actually be more of a factor then the rain.
Always nice coming into a major after an outright WINNER. We hit ZJ yesterday at the JDC as a 2** play. I believe that was my sixth documented trophy kissing victory this season here at PREGAME. May be worth noting in the two major's this year, I've hit one winner with Bubba getting it done at the masters for a 45-1 payout. Then at the US Open we had G. McDowell at 100-1 who had two chances to get himself into a playoff with Webby. He missed difficult 20~ft birdie putts at 17 & 18 to come up just short of a BIG TIME payday. Although he missed the cut at last years British Open along with Luke D. and Paddy these are players I expect to contend this week. Lee Westwood and Ian Poulter also missed the cut last year and could have solid weeks.

Yes Cabby I agree, on the big week factor lol.. You're right about the euro tour weather, that's why I'm thinking the european players will have an edge this week. The weather will be more or less "standard" for those used to the wet, cold and windy climates that tend to follow the european tour. Some of the american "vets" that have played a few british opens, should also be inclined to finish well as the weather along with major tourney pressure can make for a mean combination for those players who are new to either factor..
