Wimbledon is coming next week and I'm kicking matches around in my head and thought I'd share some opinions. So here's a look at some long shots on the WTA side .
Quarter One Kuznetsova +3300 (5 Dimes)
Serena's quarter. This would take an injury or just a bad day by Serena but if that happens Kuznetsova has a pretty good path. She needs to get past Wozniacki in the first round. No small task. But Caroline is still coming back from an ankle injury so perhaps that will come into play. She'll also have to probably get past Sloan Stephens but she's done that before and that doesn't sound so improbable. Next would most likely be Serena but here's where the possible injury or just off day has to work. Although Kuznetsova has beaten Williams in the past.
Quarter Two Strycova +2200 (5Dimes)
Petra Kvitova still seems bothered by a lack of energy sometimes. She's a monster when healthy but when your looking at long shots your going to need some help along the way. Barbora Strycova has to get passed youngster Anett Kontaveit and then more than likely Lesia Tsurenko. You would hope Kvitova is gone by now but if she's not that health issue could crop up for her and Strycova can take advantage. The best of the rest here could get hot and ruin things but Bencic and Petkovic do not seem to be at their best right now.
Quarter Three Ostapenko +2500 (5 Dimes)
Remember these are long shots. And this may be the longest. Once again we have a top seed who's not in top form. Simona Halep. If Jelena can get past Kiki Bertens in round 1 she could beat a hobbled Halep in round 2. Madison Keys stands in the way big time here however. Your going to have to hope for the injury or real bad day here. Madison is capable of the unexplained klunker but I like Keys in this quarter and would have something on her also. Others such as Flipkens and Errani are hovering around and capable of the upset. If Ostapenko can get passed Keys she still could have Kerber waiting for her. Geez +2500 is beginning to sound short.
Quarter Four Stosur +2500 (5 Dimes)
I don't like Stosur and it wouldn't surprise me if she lost to Linette in the first round. But once again we have a top seed in poor form in Venus Williams. Stosur does have a pretty unspectacular path to round 4 where Muguruza may be waiting. But that's where the long shot part comes in. And I would want something on Gabby also. As long as Venus is gone Sam can beat anyone waiting for her after that. Of course she could lose to anyone after that to. Did I mention these were long shots?
