We did a FREE PICK Video on Tuesday and I jumped all over Lee Westwood (-130) over Louis Oosthuizen in a head to head match up for The Honda. Westwood has great history here, Louis does not.. and more importantly, I saw Louis laboring with back pain in his match against Jason Day last weekend at The Accenture Match Play Championship. I could not believe he was even playing nor that he was going to be able to hold up. Well, sure enough.. Oosthuizen withdrew from the tournament today as he too came to figure out that his back was not going to make it. We wish him a speedy recovery and if he is able to return to form, he'll be a factor at Augusta.
So in light of our Free Pick attempt coming off of the board, we throw out another here in the forum..
Sergio Garcia (-140) over Phil Mickelson
When I first saw this on Tuesday it too was Sergio -130. I saw it as high as -150 and now back to -140. The stats here are pretty close between these two stalwarts but Phil typically has a more errant tee ball and Garcia is typically the better ball striker. Sergio is also a very good lag putter and that will be needed on the very large Honda Classic greens.. but what I see as the biggest factor here are two things.. Until he won The British Open last Summer, Mickelson has never for one day in his life been a wind player. He has always hit a very high ball. Sergio on the other hand can hit a knock down shot with the best of them and is forced to more so on the European Tour. The wind will blow in Florida this week at PGA National and I give Sergio a solid edge in that category. Secondly, Mickelson's successes have always come on The West Coast Swing.. Torrey, Pebble, LA, Phoenix.. and The Majors.. not Florida. He is not a Bermuda grass player.
El Nino over Lefty head to head for the tournament.
The Premium Plays (3-Total) are up here now.. /pregamepros/pro-bettor/bettor.aspx?id=86670#capper
