***NOTES***
Jimmie Johnsons team switches an engine before second practice and will start race at rear of the field.
Dale Earnhardt Jr hits the wall in final practice and goes to backup car, will also start at rear of the field,
Thanks for all the info Duff. Thats the first I had heard about JJ switching engines. Bet he still finishes top three.
The Roush boys should be very strong tomorrow as well. Cousin Carl has a great car and I wouldn't be surpised to see him in victory lane.
BOL!
"We'll See What Happens"
Here is how Bro and I picked for race tomorrow
D B(1st pick)
1unit Biffle JJohnson
Kahne Kenseth
KyleBush Stewart
1unit Edwards Boyer
Thoughts on Michigan, had one practice Fri,, then qualifyingFri,, then two more practices on Saturday,, The early practice on Sat was at 8:30 in am so Im putting most of the weight on final practice when the cars will be set up to race,, even though the track temps wont exactly match race time temps.
I was looking at Johnson, Biffle, Kenseth, Kahne in that order for my top four strongest cars,, then Stewart, KyleBush and Edwards.
Johnson had to change engines and starts in the back, but he had a strong car in practice 3 and always has to be considered a contender, especially the way Bro and I pick. I think Johnson may have the best car at Michigan tomorrow.
Biffle - probably the strongest car in all practices and qualified well. Im looking for him to run in the top five.
Kenseth - Has had really good finishes at Michigan, Consistantly strong in practices after qualifying and qualified well. Im looking for Kenseth to run in top five as well.
Kahne - Fast in practice as well as qualified good,, He hasnt finished very well the last three races at Michigan which is a bit of a concern, but he could use a win to lock up his chase spot and I believe that Hendrix will give him the best engine in the stable.
Stewart - Finished second in the last race at Michigan and over the last 3 races has been in the top ten. His practice and qualifying times have been hovering around tenth. With Stewarts recent history of descent finishes at Michigan Im thinking he runs from 5th to 10th place.
Kyle Bush - Bad practice times and equally bad qualifying along with bad luck this year. The last practice he was near last and only ran 17 laps,, with all this I still think he might be the best Gibbs car tomorrow.
Edwards - Qualified second and has pretty good practice times, needs win to help him get in the Chase, has a new crew chief,, Im looking for Edwards to run in top ten.
Dont have any longshots for this race,, dont think this track sets up well for a longshot.
Mark Martin - top qualifyer and in top five in all practices,,and has had top five finishes in both 2011races,, hard to take him the way Bro and I pick,, plus when it comes race time I just dont think he will win,, Will be pulling for Martin tomorrow,, I hope he wins,, but think he will run 5th to 10th.
Staying away from Keselowski this week.
Bro thinks Johnson will have a hotrod and come through the field, he mentioned that Johnson has never won Michigan although hes been in position to win a couple of times and ran out of gas, Bro thinks Johnson is hungry to win at Michigan,, one of only a few tracks he hasnt won at.
Bro thinks JR is on a bad streak,, and said that this will be the first time his car has been on the track since he hit the wall,, Bro heard an interview with JR and apparently they are using a new tire compound this week and JR never did like his car even before it hit the wall.
Bro said he thinks Kenseth and Edwards will have good cars,,, he also mentioned something about Biffle leading most laps at Michigan?? Said Edwards just hasnt had good luck this year.
Im looking forward to Bristol night race next week,, Ive got some good tidbits of information to pass along.
Thanks MPowers and Straguzzi,,
MPowers,, agree with Johnson being in at least the top three and Roush boys having some strong cars.
