There are toteboards that give you what the "will pays" & the "probables" are going to be if the race were run at that time.
I don't care what anyone says, betting 4x4 in doubles, 4x4x4 in Pick3's etc. is not the way to go. Go up to the window with real cash & start betting that way. After losing 2 races, you'll feel like puking. After 3, you'll be getting out the rope.
