Do you know anything about tennis betting?
Well, the thing is that I'm not really differentiating between the sports I'm betting (baseball, soccer, tennis, etc). I used to try to just pick the games. I just can't do that, I get killed. I took a month off and just decided to search for great numbers and make +EV bets. I would study the market and look for value.
I think of it like a coin toss. Let's say I decide something will happen 50% of the time but the number is +105. I'm trying to put myself in a position where if I flip a coin and it lands on heads then I win $1.05 vs if it lands on tails then I give $1.00.
I believe that I've been good at getting myself +EV bets. That's been reflective in my baseball bets, but not my tennis bets. I'm betting everything the same way. But even if I believe I have an edge (win or lose), I still get caught up in the emotion of the game. The highs and lows of it all. I'd like to think I wouldn't get emotional over the coin tosses (since I have a theoretical advantage) but if I see the coin land on tails 10 of 11 times in a row I get disheartened.
