  • Most of the time - a coach or player will say a comment about another team or school that serves as "Bulletin Board" material for an opponent.

I DON'T think that's going to be the case in this particular match-up:

    1. I think Charlie Weis did his team a favor after their poor performance against San Diego State - by getting the spotlight off the team and squarely on him.  Sometimes this backfires.
    2. This is a HUGE game for Notre Dame and Rodriguez doesn't have near personnel to run his spread offense in any manner that resembles West Virginia of the last couple years.
    3. I know that Bo Schembechler is a "God" around Ann Arbor, but none of the current players and most of the coaching staff never got to see the man around the program (Died in 2006)

Any comments?   I'm playing Notre Dame +2 at BetUS - Check out my CFB Insider Report for more info Beer

  • Agreed Bonds - if this was at Michigan, that's the only way it works in their favor.  The luck o' the Irish comes through here Beer

  •  One of the main reasons I am thinking Michigan in this matchup is Notre Dame was outgained by SAN DIEGO ST, while Michigan did manage to out gain Miami(ohio).  SDST lost at home to Cal Poly and was outgained by Cal Poly by over 100 yards.  I kind of find it hard to believe that Michigan can't muster up enough yardage to pull this one out and cover against someone that was outgained by SDST at home no less.

I agree with everything you say - LET ME COMBAT the argument:

    • I think Notre Dame has been preparing to play Michigan since the miserable 2007 season ended.  Due to this fact:  I think they were overlooking SDSU to begin with and it didn't HELP MATTERS that SDSU lost to Cal Poly

I know how bad Cal Poly is.......I live in Southern California and everyone that wants to smoke pot and learn horticulture goes to that school

    • SDSU on the other hand heard all week how bad they were around campus after losing to such a terrible football team and used that as motivation to play well at Notre Dame.  Remember - SDSU isn't that bad of a program.  Plus - a national TV game in one of the most historic stadiums in the world will often cause you to want to play better.

  •  You also make good points.  With this game it's probably just pick your poison.

  • if notre dame had played cal poly instead of sds last week then played sds this week instead of michigan the line would probably be notre dame -5 1/2 not -22 like it was last week. michigan certainly had an uninspiring game against miam ohio last week to show their headed in the wrong direction as well. it ooks to me like its probably a case of two teams going nowhere and the books cant make find a reason to make either team more then a 1- 1 1/2 point favorite over the other not because these are two quality teams equal to each other in talent but because each team is probably  equal to each other in underachieving. two underquality teams that cant be seperated by more then a point and a half. theres a few games on the board with much more attractiveness then this agme and where ever the strength vesus weakness lays in this game between these two teams the way i look at it it just aint going to be worth taking or giving 1 1/2 points either way

That's why I'll take a home underdog that has coaches and players that have been in a system for a few years, while they take on a team that is a year or two away from its dominating spread offense.

Who knows - I just think Weis needs this game in a BIG WAY Drinks
