Not sure who was betting YSU down from +10 or so this morning, but the JMU side was always the right side in this game. I know some people said it does not make sense YSU being such a dog on paper, but there was more to this game then just statistics. JMU even lost two key defensive players in this game and still were able to hold YSU in check.
Not a real flashy win today, but the Dukes get it done in Frisco. They have been led down the stretch more by their defense and special teams, not the offense. Some credit goes to Everett Withers, now head coach of Texas State for the few recruiting classes left on this team, but Mike Houston got this team to gel as one and put an end to the finger pointing between the defense and offense. Hard to say if this helps JMU's case to move to FBS anytime soon and also a question about how long Houston or his coaching staff may stay together, but this team will return a lot of talent, so they should be in contention again next year.
