Army vs. Navy (-4.5, 47) (3 pm ET, CBS)
Substantial line moves as both the side and total have dropped 8 points this week. Navy lost both their quarterback and running back in last week's 34-10 loss versus Temple. QB Will Worth is out with a foot injury and he leads the team in rushing this season (265 attempts, 1,196 yards, 25 TD). Navy also lost their third leading rusher RB Toneo Gulley (43 attempts, 427 yards, 9.9 ypr). Running backs Darryl Bonner (doubtful) and Dishan Romine (questionable) are also injured. This means Navy might be without four of their top six rushers today.
Army is 0-14 SU in the past fourteen head-to-head meetings in this series, but this is their best chance to win today. The Cadets have already clinched a bowl game with their 6-5 SU record and they will play North Texas in the Heart of Dallas Bowl on December 27th. Navy's loss versus Temple last week cost the Midshipmen a chance of earning a major bowl bid. Navy will now play Louisiana Tech in the Armed Forces Bowl on December 23rd.
The Under is a perfect 10-0 in the past ten meetings as both teams run the ball on almost every play and both defenses are very familiar with the option attack. However, the line value is now gone as this line opened at 55 and has been bet down a full 8 points this week. Navy was an excellent offensive team this season (39.1 points per game on 6.8 yards per play), but a weak defensive team (30.4 ppg on 6.4 yppl). Army was weaker on offense (30.0 ppg on 5.9 yppl), but the Cadets hold a substantial defensive edge in this game (19.1 ppg on 5.0 yppl).
Army matches up well in this game with the better run defense (3.9 ypr) compared to Navy (4.8 ypr). However, there is no line value due to all the Navy injuries. Last week, the look-ahead line was Navy -12. It has now been bet down almost a full 8 points, just like the total.
