Here’s the Thursday rundown of games on the college board garnering sharp money action. Info is obtained via various sources in Nevada, along with offshore contacts plus stateside underground stores. Any observations are from the books, and note these are not my selections.
This is a very odd week, as there are some heavy chalk pieces that have actually been drawing some sharp money, which is generally not the case.
105 Louisville was a gigantic favorite to begin with and the sharper dollars have been on the Cardinals to destroy Duke.
117 Eastern Michigan is not a high volume play, but the pros have been taking the points with the Eagles against Ohio.
120 Toledo got pounded at the open, drew more dollars early in the week and there still has been very little Bowling Green buyback.
126 UMass has gotten a smattering of interest from the sharps, although it’s much more a trickle than a flood.
140 Miami drew some early money from the smarts, but that appears to be slowing down and there’s some opinion this number could start to go the other way.
148 Indiana drew substantial early sharp money. The consensus is that this line has bottomed out and that Nebraska will see more dollars moving forward.
152 LSU is another big favorite that has gotten some sharp play. The public seems more interested in Southern Miss.
154 Virginia is a sharp side as the Cavaliers entertain Pittsburgh.
155 West Virginia is getting more of the wise guy dollars at Texas Tech, but this is a game where there’s some smart money on both sides.
167 South Alabama is a low volume sharp side at Arkansas State. Not a lot of dollars on this one, though.
172 Northern Illinois is edging out Central Michigan on account dollars, which are considered sharper than over the counter.
190 Middle Tennessee is thw wise guy side right now as the Blue Raiders host Western Kentucky.
204 Boise State is another huge favorite that continues to get pro dough even at the massive tag.
206 Oregon State has gotten pro play as a home dog against Utah.
208 San Jose State is taking some wise guy money, which completely stunned one of my contacts. Exact quote: “I wouldn’t bet on them with your money.” He then added “I wouldn’t bet UNR with your money either.”
210 Hawaii took a bunch of sharp money early, and the public is also firing on the Rainbow Warriors. A bit of speculation from a couple of sources that the line has topped out at will go back down a bit by game time late Saturday night.
That’s the up to date rundown, have fun and remember that sharp money doesn’t always win. In other words, don’t get scared off a side you like just because someone else likes the other side.
