It’s time for this week’s Wise Guy Report.
Here’s this week’s rundown of where the sharp money is showing thus far on the college football card. Information is gathered via various sources in Nevada, at offshore books as well as stateside underground shops. These are not my plays, just a report on the cash flow.
115 East Carolina is a popular choice among public bettors, but there has been no disagreement from the sharps/
118 Louisville is taking pro dough in its clash with Florida State. Interesting to note that the public is backing Florida State, but not as heavily as usual.
130 Rutgers is actually attracting some decent play from the wise guys.
131 Middle Tennesee was purchased pretty heavily early in the week and the public is buying the Blue Raiders as well. A couple of my contacts believe there will late buy back on Bowling Green.
142 UTEP is drawing action from the smarts, with the speculation that this is due to the potential distraction on the Army side following the tragic death of one of their players in a car accident.
149 South Florida is getting play again from the pros. The Bulls were popular smart money last week and they’re a hot draw again this week.
153 Western Kentucky is very popular on the square side. No opposition yet from the wise guys.
157 Louisiana Tech is the sharp side in a minor pros vs. joes duel against Texas tech.
166 Marshall is getting play from both the pros and the public.
172 Applachian State is the smart money choice right now, while the masses are taking the Miami Florida side.
189 Duke is getting a good deal of play, but my sources indicate it’s not pro dough, and the consensus is that there will be Northwestern buy back at some point prior to game time.
191 Ohio State is getting lots of love from the amateurs, but the pros are backing Oklahoma. This would appear to be a response to the enormous differential between the summer line on this game and where it opened on Sunday night.
193 Alabama is getting steady play from the joes, but the pros aren’t racing in yet to snare any value on Ole Miss. But the consensus is that if this trend continues, the Rebels might get some late play from the sharps.
200 Tulane makes an appearance on the wise guy list and the Green Wave are actually drawing a pretty fair amount of informed money.
204 Stanford has been taking the majority of the dollars against USC, and this seems to have caught at least a couple of my sources by surprise, as they expected sharp dollars to show on the dog, but that has not been the case to this point.
That’s what I have for now. The usual caveat is in place, this is just an action report, and should not be overly weighed by anyone with a splid opinion on any of thse sides.
