How about the Wolfpack with the upset this weekend? Then NC goes on to beat Clemson next week. And we don't have to worry about any sh*t team from the ACC in the playoffs.
I like North Carolina a lot in this situation. NC State upset the Tar Heels last year so they won't be sneaking up on them again. The visiting team has done well in this series over the last couple of years so I'm not too concerned about home field advantage either.
NC State has built a good record on a cupcake non-conference schedule and beating the likes of BC, Wake Forest and Syracuse in a top-heavy ACC. This will only be the third FBS team with a winning record (Louisville is now 6-5 but was 1-3 when they played) that NC State has faced all year. The others are Clemson and Florida State, both of which covered the spread against the Wolfpack.
North Carolina going up and winning in Blacksburg in Frank Beamer's last home game shows a lot. I know a lot of people were on the Tar Heels but even losing a big lead and winning in overtime showed a lot of mental toughness.
I don't know if North Carolina will put the petal to the metal from the opening kick like they did against Duke but last year's loss to NC State and almost letting last week's game at Virginia Tech almost slip away should have the Tar Heels focused and ready.
